Palmer Utterback to play at Quincy Words & Music

Quincy Words & Music, scheduled for Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Patti's Thunder Café starting at 7:00pm, will feature Palmer Utterback, an accomplished singer-songwriter who performs with an easy, laid-back charm.

Utterback says, “My lifelong love affair with the singer-songwriter tradition of Americana folk music began with my mother’s record collection. The magical thinking of my childhood psyche forever merged with the feel of such songs as The Fox (Burl Ives, 1956), When It’s Springtime in Alaska (Johnny Horton, 1959), Mark Twain (Harry Belafonte, 1954) and Tom Dooley (Kingston Trio, 1958).” He goes on to say, “I sense the vibes of the tradition represented by these songs when I go about making up songs of my own.”

When asked about his program for Words & Music, Utterback commented, “Several songs I have planned for Thursday night were made while I lived in Spring Garden (1978 to 1986). These include Grace’s Apple Tree Song, Lay My Bones out on the Keddie Wye, Spring Garden, and Picket Fence. Thank you Plumas Arts for giving me a spot on your calendar. I am looking forward to sharing a little time with you all!”
