Plumas Arts Gallery

Artists' Opening Reception

Friday, September 2, 2016, 5PM to 7PM

Featured Artists: Johnna Leonhardt and David Hamilton

The Plumas Arts Gallery, located at 525 Main Street in Quincy, will host a reception Friday, September 2, 2016, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm featuring the colorful oil paintings of Johnna Leonhardt and the wildlife photography of her son-in-law David Hamilton. There will be light refreshments and beverages, plus the chance to meet the artists in person.

Johnna Leonhardt has been painting since 2001, after being inspired by an evening art class taught by local legend Bill Peters at Feather River College. She pursues multiple mediums, but her favorite is oils. She loves to enter her work in the Plumas-Sierra County Fair, and is often (including this year) a People’s Choice winner.

David Hamilton, married to Johnna Leonhardt’s daughter Aimee, is a Plumas County local. Since graduating from Humboldt State University in 2008 with a degree in Wildlife Biology, David married his high school sweetheart, started a family and is now a current resident in Quincy. He enjoys hiking, birding, fishing, camping, hunting, snowboarding and river time with his family and dog Cinder. Hamilton has a life-long love for observing the abundant wildlife in the area. After picking up a camera and starting to take pictures, he realized combining his two interests would be a natural fit. Since then, he has captured amazing shots of birds and animals which reveal his deep respect for nature.

The show will hang for the month of September. The Plumas Arts Gallery and office hours are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11am to 5pm, and Saturday from 11am to 3pm. Please visit Plumas Arts on the web at www.plumasarts.org for more information about their programs.

Johnna Leonhardt shows her love of color and texture, and her affinity for painting water in these oil paintings.
