Allen is comfortable creating work in just about any medium, and spans a dizzying number of genres, from beautiful representational portraiture to outrageous pop culture references. His show will include 8 different media: oil paint, acrylic, ink wash, water color, colored pencil, papier mâché sculpture, and Linoleum block.

His favorite subject is people. This show will include two new paintings of his wife Gail. One painting will be unveiled at the opening, having been finished just recently. Allen says, "Only a few have seen this work." He also puts humor in his work, as a larger-than-life papier mâché sculpture of Rat Fink, the infamous hot rod character, will show. In all of his works he is always trying to use good color harmony, composition, value structure and media technique, drawing on his professional career as an instructor.

The show will also feature the photographs of Allen's son Nick. Allen says, "This will be the second art show with my son Nicholas at the Plumas Arts Gallery." Nick lives and works in Los Angeles and he travels the world with his job and picture taking. He will be showing photographs from his travels, as well as studio work.

Allen Stentzel's astonishing papier mâché sculpture of hot rod character Rat Fink will be on display at the Plumas Arts Gallery through the month of October.

Allen comments, "Nick and I like other artists' work. If I were wealthy, I might be a collector and not a painter. Nick has a great collection already, with many artists represented. Last week in Brazil he purchased a famous rare photograph, and hired a well-known Brazilian graffiti artist to paint a 4x6 foot canvas. I can't wait to see it!"
