Day of the Dead Show Features Work by Isabel Perez & Theodor Judge
The November exhibition at the Plumas Arts Gallery features Day of the Dead themed art and featured artists Theodor Judge and Isabel Perez Judge from Janesville in Lassen County. An opening Reception will be hosted on Friday, November 1 from 5 to 7pm.

Theodor started college the day the Korean War ended on the GI Bill after a four- year enlistment in the Navy. He earned his BA in Art at San Francisco State University then his MA from Sacramento State University with an emphasis in metal sculpture. After graduation he had been "in and out of teaching" art in several locations around California at American River College and in El Dorado county, Placerville and Santa Maria (where he met Isabel). He also taught in Guam and Australia.

Theodor has not show his work for many years. The "hassle of packing and moving" what he calls "the largest collection of his original artwork in in the world." Even so he expressed the fact that "artists need exposure. Visual artists need an audience. We work in s isolation, but when we are done it should be (displayed) where somebody can see it."

The motivation to show his work came when Roxanne Valladao, Plumas Arts Director discussed her idea for a Day of the Dead themed art show with Isabel at the Almanor Art Show this last Summer Since then Valladao has worked to bring an exhibition of Theodor's work to the Plumas Arts Gallery.

Theodor's work, in sculpture painting and drawing, all express a wry sense of humor and sense of irony which is all in the spirit of the traditional expressions of Day of the Dead art. The show will present a number of his pencil and mixed media drawings as well as several pieces if painted furniture.
