| Plumas Arts is proud to present the artwork of talented Plumas County Jr. Sr. High School students with an opening reception Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Capitol Arts Gallery, 525 Main St. in Quincy from 5PM to 7PM. |
| Quincy and Portola Jr./Sr. High Schools, under the instruction of Art Teacher Danielle DeBoever-Frid, have their talents on display at Plumas Arts Gallery during the month of April. In her fifth year of teaching, Mrs. Frid guides her students in working with a wide variety of media. In general, during the first half of the school year art students learn basic drawing skills using dry media such as pencil, ink, and charcoal. . Around mid school year students begin working with color and wet media including colored pencil, pastels, watercolor and acrylic paints. Students spend the last quarter of the year exploring 3-D art. |

At Portola High School students have a printing press and create linoleum block prints. Mrs. Frid tries to keep her students projects meaningful, authentic, and tied to community. This year some of her art students have painted murals, collaborated with Rob Wade to create works that will be used for interpretive signs in Plumas County, and painted donated chairs that will be auctioned off for a fundraiser for CASA. Also students have entered works into national art contests for Google and Vans Shoe Company, for a chance win up to thousands of dollars.

Chester High School, under the instruction of Art Teacher Paulette Stover, will be showing work also.
Plumas Arts will be hosting the reception at the Capitol Arts Gallery with beverages and treats on hand. "We really enjoy having the community come in and share this space, the student artwork is so much fun and you will enjoy the talent of our kids. " Lori Davis comments.
